After graduating from Luther College, Karen taught English in Japan, where she became interested in Shiatsu. Upon returning to Minnesota she studied Shiatsu at the Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Study (now CenterPoint), graduating in July 1994. She has completed 500+ hours of study in Shiatsu Anma, Namikoshi Shiatsu, Anatomy & Physiology, and continues to study and learn new techniques such as Acuhara (like acupuncture but using ion chords and magnets instead of needles), Cupping, Cranio Sacral Therapy, Tuina (Chinese Medical Massage) and additional Shiatsu techniques.

Karen bought the Burnsville Shiatsu Center from a former classmate in 1997. She has been practicing there since 1995. Karen is very active in her community. She's a member of the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and Business Network International (BNI).  She gives educational talks about Shiatsu and alternative healthcare, as well as teaching classes in Self-Shiatsu.





   
 
Sondra Samos

Sondra Samos


Sondra is a registered Occupational Therapist (O.T.) with over 20 years of experience, primarily in mental health. She became professionally interested in Shiatsu after personally experiencing its healing benefits, both mental and physical. In 2002, she received certification as an Aisan Bodywork Therapist from CenterPoint in Minneapolis, and began her work at the Burnsville Shiatsu Center (BSC).

Sondra has additional training in Reflexology, Hospice Massage, Shiatsu for Occupational Therapy, and Yoga/Mindfulness for Depression and Anxiety. In addition to her work at BSC, she provides Shiatsu and O.T. services to residents with dementia and Alzheimers living in metro Memory Care facilities.

In her spare time Sondra enjoys quilting, hiking, cross country skiing, show shoeing, swimming and reading. She also likes to give Shiatsu treatments to her golden retriever (Darwin) and her husband.

At home Laurel’s cats, Gus and Woodrow, vie for her attention while she is engrossed in writing just about anything - especially daily journals, cheesy crime fiction novels, soapbox political essays and secret recipes. She is an avid nature nut and loves gardening, hiking, wilderness camping and cross-country skiing.
